Ingredients: What's in Repuff?
Repuff is a Patent Pending formula which is made from the concentrates and extracts of the sap of a cactus, the juice of a fruit, the same preservatives (Potassium Sorbate and Sodium Benzoate) that are found in wine and health foods, and a small amount of food coloring to provide a consistent appearance.
All the ingredients are food-grade quality and used in proportions suitable for human consumption. In fact, all the ingredients are consumed regularly in health foods, herbal remedies, wine, and soft drinks. The concentration of each ingredient in Repuff is no greater than that which has been approved by the FDA in other products for human consumption.
Instructions: How is Repuff Applied to a Cigar?
Simple as 1 – 2 – 3: Simply DROP, PUFF, and DROP AGAIN as follows:
1. START HOT and DROP DIRECTLY ON THE BURN!! Start with a fully lit cigar!! Puff your cigar until your ring is fully lit, resulting in a “Ring of Fire.” (Remove excess ash, but do not cut anything back). Apply Repuff around the ring, directly on the burn (where the ash meets the leaf, avoid overlapping drops, should be about 5-7 drops).
2. PUFF Take 2-3 strong puffs of the cigar to draw Repuff behind the burn.
3. DROP ON TIP Put 2-3 drops on the tip of the ash to put out the cigar.
DONE!! Wrap in the ash end in foil and place in a biggie or tube for storage.
YOU’RE DONE!
RELIGHTING: HOW SOON CAN I RELIGHT
A Repuffed cigar can be relit immediately! However, Repuff puts a great deal of moisture on the end of your cigar. Therefore, the sooner you relight it, the longer it will take to get your cigar burning.
If you were to relight it immediately after applying Repuff, you would have to toast the end long enough to evaporate the Repuff you just applied. You would also find that the added moisture on the end would require you to nurse your cigar quite aggressively to keep it lit for the first few minutes. But, once the burn is established, it will smoke just as it did before you Repuffed it.
You can easily relight your cigar after about an hour.
The best way to relight your Repuffed cigar is to knock off the ash and relight as you would any fresh cigar. DO NOT blow out the cigar, DO NOT cut off any leaf, DO NOT do anything other than knock off the ash (it will fall like a scab), toast up the end, and light up as you would a fresh cigar.
RELIGHTING: CAN REPUFF REVITALIZE A DEAD CIGAR (ALREADY STALE)
NO! The cigar must be extinguished with Repuff and drawn behind the burn in order to be effective. In other words, the cigar must be lit in order to be saved.
FREQUENCY: HOW MANY TIMES CAN I APPLY REPUFF TO THE SAME CIGAR
Repuff neither adds nor takes away any flavor from your cigar. You can apply Repuff as many times as you wish.
Repuff was applied a Reyes Family Puros Indios Presidente cigar (a 17 ½ inch cigar) 7 times, and smoked over a 3 week period. The flavor and freshness of the cigar was kept in a state of excellence during the entire time.
LONGEVITY: HOW LONG WILL REPUFF KEEP MY CIGAR FRESH
Once Repuffed, your cigar will remain fresh for as long as your cigar is kept moist (65-75% humidity); just like any other cigar. The bigger issue of longevity is governed by how your Repuffed cigar is stored. See “Storage” below.
SMELL: DOES A REPUFFED CIGAR SMELL BAD
The ash and charcoal still smell, but Repuff mitigates the smell of an extinguished cigar considerably. The taste is great, and the smell goes away as soon as you relight, but Repuff is not a mask, perfume, nor deodorant, and it does not add any flavor or fragrance to your cigar.
STORAGE: HOW DO I STORE REPUFFED CIGARS
The best way to store a Repuffed cigar is in the Repuff Tube…which will be available soon. In the meantime, the most effective way to store a Repuffed cigar is as follows:
-- The Repuff Pre-package Baggie: The Repuff baggie inhibits smell and allows you to place the Repuffed cigar back in your humidor. Simply apply Repuff, wrap the ask end in foil (to prevent the ask from spoiling the tip of your cigar), and place in the Repuff Baggie.
-- Any available cigar tube: Wrap a piece of foil around the ash end of your cigar and slide it into a tube. Wrapping foil around the end is suggested so that the ash does not get knocked off and foul the tip of your cigar. Once in a tube, you can place the cigar in your humidor without any transfer of a smoky, ashy smell to your other cigars. In a tube, your cigar will be fresh for up to a month. Your cigar is kept moist in the tube as a result of the Repuff you apply. If you know you’re going to store your cigar for a long time, you may want to add an additional drop or two to the end when you first Repuff your cigar.
-- Any baggie: Again, wrap foil around the ash end of your cigar and place it in a baggie. Keep the baggie outside your humidor and place a humi-pack in the baggie if you’re not going to smoke it for more than a couple of weeks. Also, you may consider dedicating a large baggie with a humi-pack for the purpose of collecting all your Repuffs in one place.
-- Your humidor: Repuff is also developing a humidor for the exclusive purpose of storing Repuffed cigars, but until the Repuff Humidor of launched, we suggest you either dedicate a separate humidor for Repuffed cigars or use a tube as suggested above.
QUANTITY: WHAT IF I APPLY TOO MUCH OR TOO LITTLE REPUFF TO MY CIGAR
No worries about applying too much Repuff, it will only require more effort to relight it within a hour or two.
As long as you apply Repuff around the ring and puff the cigar at least once to draw it behind the burn, it will be preserved. The second couple of drops on the very end (the tip of the ash) is just to fully extinguish the cigar. There is no need to overlap the drops on the ring as long as all the drops fully touch each other. When you apply Repuff, you’ll see it spread around the ring. It should only take a about 5 drops to completely encircle a 54 ring gauged cigar.
STAINING & WASHING: HOW DO I REMOVE REPUFF FROM CLOTHING
Repuff comes right off your hands with baking soda. With clothes, BE CAREFUL. It does stain; however, we’ve found that it does come out of most poly and poly-blends with regular washing. .
SHELF LIFE: DOES A VIAL OF REPUFF HAVE AN EXPIRATION DATE
No. The maximum shelf life of Repuff is not yet known. The preservatives in Repuff are kept at the legal limit of 1/10 of 1%; the same limit in popular soft drinks (worth noting is that the legal limit for cosmetics is 3%). We know the minimum shelf life is at least two years.
THEORY: HOW DOES REPUFF KEEP CIGARS FRESH
The theory is that the botanical fluid of Repuff hydrates and oxygenizes the leaf behind the burn. It actually refreshes that part of the cigar that is most responsible for the stale, rancid flavor when the cigar goes out.
REFILLABLE: CAN I REFILL THE REPUFF VIAL
Repuff vials are intended for one-time use. Our internal testing has found that the needle tip can be removed and replaced on the vial for use with other liquids of denser viscosity, such as oil or gel. Repuff has the viscosity of water. If you refill you vial with Repuff or other such liquid the seal in the vial may not be as secure as it was with the first use. An aluminum pen that is refillable with Repuff is currently under development.
VIAL SIZE: WHAT IS A MILLILITER (ml)
Repuff is currently available in 3ml, 6ml, and 12ml vials. A “ml” is about 10 drops. An ounce is about 29.57ml.
